Editorial Manager

The editorial manager is responsible for developing strong content and distributing written communications for Southern Adventist University and serves as a key member of the team responsible for shaping the marketing and communications strategy for the university.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages the distribution of key news and feature items for internal and external audiences.
  • Serves as managing editor for Columns, the university magazine, which includes writing and editing as well as managing production and distribution.
  • Crafts content for core communications related to Southern’s mission.
  • Writes engaging ad and promotional copy.
  • Develops message strategy, concepts, and themes in collaboration with other members of the team and administration.
  • Spearheads content development for newsletters, Southern Tidings submissions, brochures, advertisements, etc.
  • Proactively develops campaigns to improve perceptions of the university.
  • Fosters long-term relationships with news media and escorts media on campus.
  • Serves on the Crisis Communication Team as the primary public information officer.
  • Works with and mentors a team of student writers.
  • Contracts with freelancers to assist with workflow when necessary.
  • Performs special assignments as requested.
