ONLINE DUAL ENROLLMENT COURSES

Dual enrollment students can get a head start with college while learning online from Southern Adventist University professors. These courses count as credit toward a high school diploma and a college degree and offer high school seniors a taste of college with convenient online scheduling. Students may take up to 6 credit hours per semester through this program.

Steps to register for dual enrollment classes are below:

STEP 1: The student completes the online application.

STEP 2:
The parent and school contact (registrar) are emailed, asking them to complete a short online form.

STEP 3:
Once the parent completes this form, a second email containing payment information is sent.

STEP 4:
Once payment and all required documents are received, a decision is made to accept the student.

STEP 5:
An email is sent to the student with instructions on creating a Southern account and signing the Financial Responsibility Agreement. This is required to be registered.

STEP 6.
Our Records department manually registers the student, and the student receives one final email with information on accessing their online course(s).

Am I eligible to take dual enrollment classes?
Online Dual Enrollment eligibility is as follows:
  • High School Senior with GPA of 3.0+
  • High School Junior with GPA of 3.5+
  • Approval of parent, registrar, and Online Campus
  • English courses:
    • SAT writing of 450+ OR
    • ACT English score of 18+
  • Calculus:
    • SAT Math score of 520+
    • ACT Math score of 24+
  • Statistics:
    • ACT of 22+ OR
    • GPA of 3.5+ (Jr & Sr.)
How much do dual enrollment classes cost?
Dual enrollment students can take advantage of the reduced tuition rate of $180 per credit hour. This does not include textbook or lab fees. Tennessee students may be eligible for Tennessee's dual enrollment grant.
How are grant funds dispersed?
Students must pay for their dual enrollment course(s) before being registered for the course. Approximately midway through the semester, the university receives grant funds. The funds are then distributed in the form of tuition reimbursement to those who qualified.
What can I expect from a dual enrollment class, and what will be expected of me?
Dual enrollment classes are not self-paced and have weekly deadlines for submitting assignments. You will need to schedule time into your day and week to complete the work in your class(es) to be successful. Most online classes also involve a once-weekly live session in which you will interact with your classmates and professors via video conference.
