Contest: A Nation Divided: Where Do We Go From Here?

Calling local high school seniors!

Southern Adventist University is sponsoring an essay contest on the topic, "A Nation Divided: Where do we go from here?" 

Chattanooga-area high school seniors are invited to enter by submitting a photo, video, or written essay on the topic. The School of Journalism and Communication will award cash prizes to four winners:
  • $250 to the top entrants in each of the three categories
  • $500 to a single grand prize winner
Submissions must reflect the main theme "A Nation Divided: Where do we go from here?" Only one entry permitted per student. The deadline to enter is September 9, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. 
  1. Written Essay 
    Submission must be 350 to 400 words
  2. Photo Essay
    Submission must consist of 3 to 5 images, and each photo should be part of the same story and include a caption
  3. Video Essay
    Submission must be a 60 to 90-second video, either in a documentary/narrative story format or a first-person essay format (filming yourself talking on camera)
To claim prizes, students should be present at the September 19 event, A Nation Divided: Where do we go from here? with David French, a New York Times columnist and best-selling author. Winners will have VIP access to David French. The event is free and will be held on the campus of Southern Adventist University. RSVP is highly recommended. Find more information here.
