WHY JOURNALISM AND COMMUNICATION AT SOUTHERN?
The School of Journalism and Communication is an academic department dedicated to the study and practice of public relations, journalism, and other forms of communication in the 21st century.
The Journalism and Communication program at Southern provides students with excellent preparation for communications-related careers.
Students leave with skills well suited for graduate school or other careers where communication is critical, including law, business, counseling, photography, church communication, marketing, and community development, just to name a few.
Internships and jobs are available with partners just minutes from Southern, such as It Is Written and Volkswagen Group of America.
Students present their own communication research at national conventions and participate in collegiate chapters of professional societies.
Students have access to a robust network of alumni and professionals, facilitating mentorship, job placements, and ongoing career support.
