Finding Faith

Associate Chaplain Anna Bennett shares the following tips for how to strengthen your faith:
  • Pursue God – In the book The Desire of Ages, we learn that a man named Nathanael had frequently withdrawn to a quiet place under a fig tree to read scripture and understand the prophecies concerning the coming Messiah. In John 1:43-51, Philip invites his friend Nathanael to “come and see” Jesus for himself. We believe this invitation is something God extends to each of us today. In Jeremiah 29:12-13, God promises that when we seek Him, we will find Him. Though God is the ultimate pursuer, we are invited to pursue Him as well. What does the invitation to pursue God include for you today? Does it look like intentionality? Finding a Bible translation that helps you to connect with the Word of God in a meaningful way? Seeking spiritual care from a pastor, chaplain, or mentor?
  • Schedule Meaningful Time with God – Psalm 91 invites us to come into the presence of God through a secret or hidden place. Withdraw from crowded spaces, set aside your phone, and find a quiet location without interruptions. Choosing to intentionally connect with God daily will maximize your relationship with Him and lead you to experience joy, peace, love, and hope.
  • Ask for the Holy Spirit – Pray and ask God to baptize you with the Holy Spirit, trusting that He will fulfill His promise in Ezekiel 36:26-27 to give you a new heart and a new spirit. This will enable you to hear His voice and respond to His call on your life.
