Helpful things to know:

  • The files you create are stored on OneDrive.
  • You can sync your OneDrive files locally to your computer, and vice versa.
  • Any file you wish to open must be saved to, or uploaded to OneDrive.
  • You have 100GB of OneDrive storage.
  • You must have internet access to use the online version of Microsoft Office.

How to use the online version of Microsoft Office

  1. Log into the Office portal using your Southern credentials.
  2. Choose the application you want to use in the left-hand column.
  3. From here, things are about the same as the desktop version of Office, so it should look familiar.
  4. When you create a new blank document, it is by default named Document and is saved automatically. To change the document name, click on the file name and type in the new name.  You do not need to manually save changes you make.  OneDrive does that for you.
