European Study Tour
The School of Social Work sponsors a study tour to Europe every other summer. The
objective of this tour is to facilitate a better understanding of peoples and cultures
and to enable the participants to work with people more effectively. The tour focuses
on a comparison of cultures, current issues, and social policies.
The European Study Tour is the highlight of many students' experience at Southern.
It is a fantastic opportunity to experience different cultures and see spectacular
historical sites in a modern context. Some of the great experiences include: floating
down a canal in Venice, attending vespers in Westminster Abbey in London, going on
the Sound of Music Tour in Salzburg, eating handmade chocolate in Belgium, riding
the Eurostar train under the English Channel, and paragliding in the Swiss Alps. This
is a once-in-a-lifetime, unforgettable experience.
The tour leaves directly after graduation for approximately four weeks and travels
to eight countries including: Belgium, Holland, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland,
and England. Due to the variability of travel costs, the rates are negotiated prior
to each trip. Academic credit of 1-6 hours is included in the cost. For more information
