RN/LPN License Update

The Southern Adventist University School of Nursing offers a nursing licensure update course. This course is designed for the RN or LPN with inactive Tennessee licensure intending to re-activate a nursing license and return to practice in the State of Tennessee.

The course is now offered two times per year (January and August semesters) and consists of 40 clock hours of theory and 40 clock hours of clinical experiences. The theroy component includes the concepts of nursing that support current professional nursing practice. All of the theory components may be done online; a high-speed internet connection is needed. The clinical component is a preceptored experience and takes place at Chattanooga area health care facilities. Clinical experiences are individualized to match the goals of the licensure-update student. Prerequisites to the course include application to the university, verification of license status from the Tennessee Board of Nursing, a background check, proof of current CPR certification (American Heart Association Health Care Provider), proof of immunizations, drug screening, and a physician statment of health. The cost of the licensure update course in $500 for tuition.
