Dr. Rahn and Natalia Shaw Endowmed Scholarship Fund
Dr. Rahn Shaw and his wife Natalia initiated their family endowment at Southern Adventist University in 2017. Dr. Shaw was raised in a middle-class family in North Carolina and always knew he would be a physician. But, that career path didn’t pave its own way.
Rahn enrolled at Southern and got a job on campus in Thatcher Hall. He also volunteered
at the local fire department until they hired him full-time. That job got him through
school. He wasn’t always at the top of his class, but he was determined and knew what
he wanted. That grit and determination went a long way. Shaw graduated from Southern
in 1978 and went on to medical school. He began his own practice in Florida and throughout
his career, it was mentors, family, and friends who he credited with the busniess
success he enjoys today.
This family endowment is for biology, business, chemistry, computer science, mathematics,
and physics majors. It intentionally seeks to help those students who may not have
top grades but who have the passion and determination to succeed.
