- Average Fundraising Goal: ~$3,300. Prices may vary. See Student Missions Office.
- Timeline: Full year and semester options available. This call typically begins at the end of July or the beginning of August. There is a required training in Hawaii at the beginning of the school year. School ends the last week of May and the SMs typically leave a few days after the senior graduation.
- Location: Kolonia, Pohnpei, FSM Check out the location on Google Maps!
- Living Accommodations: There are multiple housing options for student missionaries on the campus of Pohnpei SDA School. Typically, there are 3-5 missionaries per apartment. Each apartment has a bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. There is usually no warm water. Most apartments have 2-3 bedrooms with beds and closets provided. There are not really any cabinets or drawers for you to put clothes in, but there are some shelves in the closets. Each apartment also has a kitchen which includes the following: a sink, oven, stove, fridge, cabinets, and the necessary dishes. The living space includes a dining room table, chairs, and some seating. These are very nice apartments to have during an SM year!
- Language: All teaching is done in English. Most people in Pohnpei speak at least some English. However, their local language is Pohnpeian.
- Food: Volunteers are responsible for their own food for which there is a monthly stipend. There is a wide variety of food available. Local food consists mainly of fish, chicken, chicken katsu, noodles, local produce, etc. You can buy most food items at ACE Office (it has tons of imported groceries) or the other stores located in various places throughout the island. There are also many restaurants on the island that serve American. There are many food options for vegetarians.
