Audio Visual
Audio Visual manages the setup and running of the AV equipment for most Southern Adventist University programs. This includes Friday night Vespers, Saturday Renewal church service, most SA events, and Week of Prayer. Classroom event videotaping can also be scheduled through Audio Visual, and a limited supply of AV equipment is also available for rental for a single day, or multiple days if desired. The design and installation of new classroom and auditorium AV systems are covered by Audio Visual. They include: projection systems, sound reinforcement systems, theatrical lighting systems, Crestron AV automation, classroom recording systems, and videoconferencing installations. Events

The Audio Visual team manages the setup and operation of all AV equipment for any program that occurs on campus. This may be for a Student Association, Campus Ministries, or departmental event. We also run any Southern programs that occur at the Collegedale Church.

To schedule an event with AV please do ONE of the following:

  1. Submit an IT Helpdesk ticket using the "Event Request" button located on the Audio Visual page menu.
    Important: Choose ‘AV Event’ as your Category and fill in all required fields.
  2. Email: linskic@southern.edu with the following information: Event title, date, location, start time/end time, equipment needs, any other helpful information.
Rentals

Audio Visual also has a selection of equipment that is available for rental for a single day, or multiple days if desired. Please call, or email us for current pricing and available equipment.

Audio Visual Technology

Audio Visual is also responsible for designing, installing and maintaining all AV equipment in classrooms, offices, and auditoriums. Larger rooms feature more powerful projectors, including laser powered. The projectors are matched with projection screens from Da-Lite.

AV Connectivity:
All classrooms have installed DVD players, and many include Blu-ray. Many rooms also feature a teaching lectern with built in PC and Crestron automation controls. All classrooms and auditoriums also feature VGA connectivity for laptops with most rooms also including HDMI connectivity. Several buildings also feature Apple TV and Crestron Airmedia for wireless presentation from a PC, Mac, Android, or IOS device. Cable TV from EPB and Comcast is also available in select rooms.
Audio:
Most rooms feature wall or ceiling speakers from JBL's Control series.  We also have several rooms utilizing the Bose Panaray series and Tannoy CVS series.  Our largest meeting space on campus, Iles Gymnasium, features a dual line array soundsystem from Workx Audio. Installed are 16 TrueLine V8 series loudspeakers with two TrueLine V215S  dual 15" subs and four TrueLine TL218SS dual 18" subs.
AV Control:
Most rooms utilize Crestron automation systems with the DMPS3 product line. Three rooms use Extron IP Link series for classroom controls.
Lighting:
Iles Gym and Ackerman auditorium feature ETC Source Four Pars and Ellipsoidals. Iles Gym also features stage backlighting from LED pars and full room audience coverage with full color capability from LED pars. ETC's Unison DRd dimming rack controls all tungsten fixtures utilizing (48) 20 amp dimming channels through 24 L5-20 connectors and 4 socopex 6 channel power connectors. Thatcher Chapel features ETC Colorsource Pars and Spots for all stage lighting with presets controlled through Crestron touchscreens.

You can stop by between 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, but there is no guarantee that someone will be in the office.

We are located inside the Campus Services building with Campus Safety.
About the Team:
The AV team is made up of two supervisors and roughly 17 students who handle the many programs that occur each week. If you are a student interested in working for AV you can check the student job board to see if there is an opening. Usually we only hire at the beginning of each school year.
