Paul Miller (Biophysics, 2015) has chosen to wait a year before starting medical school, and he is putting that year to good use!  He has joined a team from Erlanger Health Systems to conduct heart attack research.  The goal of the research is to develop a protocol to more effectively screen patients who have risk factors for a heart attack.  Miller's contribution was to sift through piles of historical patient files and compile statistics on various indicators (ECG results, blood pressure, BMI, etc.) and correlate these with patient outcomes.  A simple point system was developed that shows promise for helping doctors identify patients who are at immediate risk for a heart attack.
