The Defining decade: Presentations by meg jay, phd
Southern Adventist University is excited to welcome developmental clinical psychologist
Meg Jay, PhD, to campus for THREE FREE PRESENTATIONS ON MARCH 6, 2025, as part of the Schutte Family Lecture Series. We hope you can join us!
Jay is the author of The Twentysomething Treatment: A Revolutionary Remedy for an Uncertain Age, The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter and How to Make the Most of Them Now, and Supernormal: The Secret World of the Family Hero. Her books have been translated into more than a dozen languages and her work has
appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review and on
NPR, BBC and—maybe most important for her audience—TikTok.
A recent New York Times profile called Jay “the patron saint of striving youth” and her TED talk Why 30 Is Not the New 20 is among the most watched to date. She earned a doctorate in clinical psychology, and in gender studies, from the University of California, Berkeley. Jay is on faculty at the University of Virginia and maintains a private practice in Charlottesville.
"Why 30 Is Not the New 20"
Clinical psychologist Meg Jay has a bold message for twentysomethings: Contrary to popular belief, your 20s are not a throwaway decade. In this provocative talk, Jay says that just because marriage, work, and kids are happening later in life, doesn't mean you can't start planning now.
